It is 7,930 acres and 9 miles long. It is an average of 54.3 feet deep and as deep as 192 feet. Elk Lake's crystal clear water make it a boater's paradise. This lake has been heavily stocked with Lake Trout; however, it holds good numbers of Cisco, Rock Bass, Perch, and Bluegills. It is 32 miles long and up to 600 feet deep in spots. It is divided into two arms by Old Mission Peninsula. West Bay is home to the towns of Traverse City to the south and Suttons Bay and Northport to the north. The Boardman River empties into the west arm in Traverse City. East Bay is home also to Traverse City in the south and Williamsburg and Elk Rapids to the north. Grand Traverse Bay is known for its shimmering water and sandy beaches and has several public boat launches and gorgeous harbors. The lake has been heavily stocked with Brown Trout, Lake Trout, and Lake Whitefish; however, it holds good numbers of Rock Bass, Perch, and Bluegills. The lake has been heavily stocked with Walleye and Bluegills; however, it holds good numbers of Rock Bass, Large & Smallmouth Bass, Perch, and Shottail Shiners. There are two Township-owned public accesses - one on the east shore & one on the west. With an average depth of 279 ft, Lake Michigan is refreshing even on the hottest summer days. Two township-owned public accesses - one located on the northwest shore in Gilbert Park and north shore in the township park. Lake Information:![]() All Sports Lake 860 Acres 18' depth Kalkaska County One of the largest lakes in Kalkaska County, Manistee Lake is best known for it's fishing. Walleye, Pike, Bass, Perch, and Bluegills draw the most interest. The lake is relatively shallow compared to some other lakes in the area and warms up a bit later in the season. Some areas of the lake offer sandy beaches while other areas conist of soft marl bottom. Manistee is a great choice for boaters and anglers and is in the heart of 1000's of acres of state land for additional outdoor activities. A State-owned public access is located on northeast shore, off Silver Lake Rd. While it is not very large, all-sports boating is allowed between 11:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. It's location close to the Blue Bear Snowmobile Trail system makes it a favorite among snowmobilers, cross country skiiers, and a.t.v. riders. The lake is deep and cold with a mostly hard sand bottom providing for terrific swimming. It connects west into Elk Lake and north through the Torch River to Torch Lake. Lake Skegemog is a shallow lake with many logs and stumps. It is home to walleye, pike and perch. There is a public boat launch 4 miles NE of Williamsburg. Lake Information:![]() All Sports Lake 18770 Acres 285' depth Antrim County Chain of Lakes One glance at the crystal clear, turquoise water and it's no wonder National Geographic has named Torch lake the third most beautiful lake in the world. At 18 miles long it is Michigan's longest lake and it's 29 sq. miles of area make it Michigan's second largest lake. It is located in Antrim County and part of the Chain of lakes. The average depth of Torch Lake's gorgeous water is 115 feet, with it's deepest point approximately 315 feet deep. It is accessed through the Torch River from Lake Skegemog and Elk Lake to the west and through the Clam River to Clam Lake and on to the Upper Chain of Lakes. The sandbar on the south end is a popular summertime destination, as well as The Dockside restaurant at the mouth of the Clam River. It's a boater's haven with several boat launches, marinas, stores and parks on the lake. |
