Recreation
Elk Rapids is within 15 miles of Traverse City, the area's hub city, so city attractions are a quick drive away. Most of the township's eastern side is bordered by one of the Chain of Lakes of Antrim County. Elk Lake contains 78 miles of navigable wasters and leads to Grand Traverse Bay and Lake Michigan. Much wildlife can be observed throughout the city and plenty of outdoor recreation is available to the area's residents. With the lakes, wetlands and forests to the north, much adventure can be found exploring the wilderness. With the highlands and orchards to the south, mouth-watering fruits can be enjoyed and a relaxing picnic is always welcomed.
